Novik plays real people around the clock. Win streaks graduate him to a new level; losing streaks unlock a new lesson. Openings, tactics, endgames — earned, not installed.

Six tiers stand between where he started and where he's going. He climbs in public — and one day, beating him at all will be a story worth telling.
Every ranked win is stamped with the level he was at when you did it. Beat him at Lv 6 today and that record only grows more legendary as he reaches Lv 30.

Shadow Chess
Novik's own variant. Every piece can cast a shadow — an echo of itself on an empty square along its line. Swap places with a shadow to strike from nowhere, hold up to three at once, and unlock the king's own shadow once your queen has fallen. It's chess with a second board layer only the bold learn to read.
